Tutoring socially disadvantaged children

Since 2005 we perform activities promoting the success of socially disadvantaged children at school. Individual and group tutoring focuses on improving the results of children at school and in particular their motivation for further education. Tutoring is closely linked with leisure activities which represent strong motivation and reward for children who regularly attend the tutoring.

Who do we work with?

Our tutoring is designed especially for Roma children at the age of 6-18 years who need help with their homework, practicing what they have learnt at school, or those, who need to explain something they do not understand. Currently, tutoring is attended by a total of 60 children and conducted by 51 volunteers.

How does tutoring take place?

Tutoring is individual or in groups and it usually takes place once a week for 60-90 minutes (if needed, more frequent tutoring can be ensured). Pupils are taught by a museum lecturer, or volunteers. The content of tutoring depends on current needs of the pupil concerned, it is possible to do homework, practice, or explain.

Do you want to get involved?

We are always looking for new volunteers for tutoring children. Czech language is a must. For more information, please contact our volunteer coordinator: Petra Banďouchová ; (+420) 734 315 044; ref@rommuz.cz
