Emília Rigová is the finnalist of the Oskar Čepan award
We already know the finalists of the Oscar Čepan award!
The price is awarded each year to slovakia visual artists up to 40 years old. The finalists – Lucie Mičíková, Adam Novota, Emíla Rigová and Boris Sirka will present their projects in shopping center called Dunaj on the square SNP 30 in Bratislava. The winner will be known on October 25th and will be chosen by curators all over the Europe – Rainer Fuchs (mumok, Vienna), Michal Novotný (FUTURA, Praha), Kiki Petratou (Joey Ramone Gallery, Rotterdam) a Lora Sariaslan (University of Amsterdam).
Emília Rigová (1980, Trnava)
She graduated from the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica, and received her Ph.D. in Juraj Saparu’s atelier (academical sculptor). In her work, she is engaged in social stereotypes and gender politics. She is interested in the perception of ethnic groups, especially the Roma minority.
Her latest exhibition in ERIAC (European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture in Berlin), where she is exhibiting together with Robert Gabris, is called Forest exhibition. An exhibition on the narratability of Roma Trauma and was launched on the International Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Romani Holocaust.
