A guided tour of the exhibition The Road is Open / Phundrado Drom interpreted into English

2 August 2023 from 5 PM

Ethnographic Museum of the National Museum, Kinsky Garden 98, Prague 5

We invite you to a guided tour of the exhibition Otevřená cesta / The Road is Open / Phundrado Drom. You will be guided through the exhibition by the curator Petra Hanáková. The curator will focus on artists, who reflected the theme of the Romani Holocaust in their works.

The guided tour will enable the visitors a closer look at The Road is Open project. It provides a unique insight into the extensive art collections of the Museum of Romani Culture. Thanks to the joint creative efforts of curators Petra Hanáková and Emílie Rigová, visitors can get acquainted with the original concept through which the works of lay Romani artists are presented. In addition to the “open depository” of the museum’s collections, the “great masters” section of the exhibition features the most remarkable untrained Romani artists, such as Ján Berky, Rudolf Dzurko, Daniel Kováč, Július Lakatoš and Markéta Šestáková.

The guided tour will be interpreted into English.

The exhibition project is part of the establishment of the Roma and Sinti Center in Prague, financially supported by Norway Grants.
