The Hodonín u Kunštátu Memorial to the  Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti in Moravia

This memorial commemorating Holocaust victims of Romani and Sinti origin is located at the authentic site where what was called a “Gypsy Camp” functioned from 1942-1943 in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. It was one of two such locations (the other such camp was in Lety u Písku) where entire families of Roma and Sinti from Bohemia and Moravia were forcibly concentrated prior to being forcibly transported to the Auschwitz II – Birkenau Concentration and Extermination Camp.

The administrator of the facility is the Museum of Romani Culture.

The facility is open to the public from April through October and can also be viewed by prior reservation outside of the regular visiting season. You can find more information about this in the section on Entry fees and opening hours

In 2021, an extensive exhibition mapping the complex history of the camp was opened at the facility, called

Hodonín u Kunštátu Camp: Intersecting Tragedies 1940–1950. Central Europe.

In addition to this main exhibition, there are also interesting temporary exhibitions at the facility. More information is in the section on Events and exhibitions.
