VISITOR REGULATIONS

HODONÍN U KUNŠTÁTU. MEMORIAL TO THE HOLOCAUST OF THE ROMA AND SINTI IN MORAVIA

 

Article I.

Data Protection - GDPR

  1. A person entering the premises of Hodonín u Kunštátu. Memorial to the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti in Moravia (hereinafter referred to as the "Memorial"), which is administered by the Museum of Romani Culture (hereinafter referred to as the "Museum"), acknowledges and expressly agrees, by their presence, that the Museum may make free audio and visual recordings of the Memorial's premises. These may include photographs or recordings of visitors or participants at events. The visitors consent to the publication of such recordings on the Museum’s website, social media platforms, in the media, and in promotional materials for the purpose of informing the public about the Memorial, its events, and the Museum’s presentation.
  2. If visitors do not agree to being photographed or included in any other type of recording, they must notify the Museum in advance at gdpr@rommuz.cz. 

Article II.

Memorial Premises

 

  1. The Memorial is owned by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. It is administered by the Museum. The objects and premises managed by the Museum include:
          1. The Memorial premises - the properties that the Museum is responsible for managing: the fenced area itself, including the Information Centre and historical buildings or their replicas, the area of the emergency burial ground, the so-called Žalov - the National Cultural Heritage monument, the parking lot and the waterworks area.
          2. Commemorative space - part of the premises where the former camps were located: an area marked by posts, including the Prisoner' Barrack and other foundations of original buildings, as well as the site of emergency burial ground, delineated by a fence around the burial site in the so-called Žalov area.
          3. Permanent exhibition of the Memorial - it is located in the building of the Information Centre and the Prisoners' Barrack.
          4. Exhibition - of a temporary nature, usually located in the Guards' Barrack (or in other areas of the Memorial Premises), and typically updated every year.
  2. These Visitor Regulations do not affect the visitors’ obligation to comply with the relevant laws of the Czech Republic.
  3. Visitors acknowledge that the Memorial is monitored by surveillance cameras for the safety of persons and property.

 

Article III.

Opening hours

  1. April-October: Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  2. The last entry to the exhibition space is at 4.15 p.m.
  3. Entry outside opening hours or out of season is possible only on weekdays and by prior arrangement at least 5 working days in advance with the head of the Memorial. Reservations can be made by calling +420 775 403 155 or by emailing hodonin@rommuz.cz. Please note that this service is not automatically granted and is subject to approval. 
  4. Entry outside opening hours or out of season for groups is only possible by prior arrangement and booking. Guided tours or educational programs are available for groups of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 50 people. Reservations can be made by phone at +420 775 403 155 or by email at hodonin@rommuz.cz. It is not possible to organize any activity without prior agreement.
  5. Opening hours on public holidays are regulated as follows:

If the date of the holiday falls on a Monday, the Memorial is closed.

 

Article IV.

Admission

  1.  Entry to the premises and permanent and temporary exhibitions is free.
  2. Entry to the indoor exhibition is subject to a fee, according to the price list issued by the Museum.
  3. Admission prices are displayed in the national currency at the Memorial’s ticket office.
  4. Any discount allowed under the Museum's discount system must be applied before the ticket is purchased, upon presentation of the appropriate ID. Discounts cannot be combined.
  5. Tickets are non-refundable, not-transferable, and valid for a single entry to the Memorial’s exhibition.
  6. Visitors are required to keep the ticket in its original condition throughout the entire visit and to present it for inspection upon request by staff.
  7. Free admission to the exhibition may be granted by the Director of the Museum upon written request, submitted in advance in writing in free form.
  8. In cases where the nature or scope of a visit requires the closure of the Memorial, the price and other terms will be determined by contract.

 

Article V.

Tour of the Memorial

  1.  The tours may be taken individually or as part of a guided tour of the Memorial.
  2. The Memorial offers guided tours for individuals and groups. Reservations can be made by calling +420 775 403 155 or by emailing hodonin@rommuz.cz. Please note that this service is not automatically granted and is subject to approval. 
  3. For schools and other educational institutions, the Memorial offers guided tours or educational programmes. Reservations can be made by calling +420 775 403 155 or by emailing hodonin@rommuz.cz. Please note that this service is not automatically granted and is subject to approval. 
  4. It is forbidden to smoke, or consume alcoholic beverages and psychotropic substances, in the entire area, including the buildings of the Memorial.
  5. It is also strictly forbidden to touch the exhibits and display cases.
  6. All exhibition spaces are wheelchair accessible.

 

Article VI.

Use of the Memorial Premises

  1. Cultural and similar events or gatherings that are not intended for viewing exhibitions or displays may be held on the Memorial premises upon written request by the event organizer and with the approval of the Museum’s director. Such requests must be submitted in advance in writing and in free form. Approval will specify the conditions under which the event may take place.
  2. The organization of commemorative and memorial events by third parties on the Memorial premises is only permitted with the consent of the Museum’s director or an authorized representative (hereinafter referred to as the "Consent"). Applications must be submitted using the Form for the Organization of Commemorative and Memorial Events, attached as Annex 1 hereto. Details regarding the organization of such events are outlined in the Rules for the Organization of Commemorative and Memorial Events by Third Parties (hereinafter referred to as the "Rules"), attached as Annex 2. Both the application form and the Rules are available on the Museum’s website. Application deadlines are specified in the Rules.
  3. Upon request, and for a fee, the Museum may provide event organisers (as described in paragraphs 1 and 2 of this Article) with the following services: 
        1. rental of furniture etc.,
        2. help from the Museum’s staff,
        3. full or partial closure of the Memorial premises to the public,
        4. access to electricity.

The details shall be specified in the permission (paragraph 1) or in a written contract concluded pursuant to paragraph 2 of this Article.     

  

  1. Audio-visual recording for non-commercial purposes is permitted. 
  2. Audio-visual recording of temporary exhibitions may be temporarily restricted or prohibited.
  3. Audio-visual recording for commercial purposes is allowed only upon written request and with the approval of the Museum’s director, under the terms set out in the permission. The request shall be submitted in advance in writing and in free form and must include a description of the intended purpose and use of the audio-visual recordings.
  4. Audio-visual recordings and their copies may be used only in appropriate contexts and must not infringe upon the Museum´s legitimate interests.
  5. Audio-visual recordings made for commercial purposes and their copies may be used under the terms of the permission. Commercial use of audio-visual recordings made within the buildings and on the Memorial premises without a valid permit, or in violation of its terms, is not permitted.
  6. In addition to the actions prohibited in Articles V and VII of these Regulations, the following are not permitted on the Memorial premises:
        1. political promotion and agitation,
        2. any conduct inconsistent with the historic and commemorative nature of the site.
  7. On national and religious holidays, or other significant days, the Museum's Director may establish special rules to allow individuals to pay tribute to the victims.

 

Article VII.

Protection of National Cultural Heritage Monuments and Security of Collections

  1. Visitors are obliged to behave respectfully and in accordance with the rules of civil coexistence, maintaining the dignity appropriate to the commemorative, historical, social and cultural significance of the site. The utmost respect must be shown to the site and to other visitors throughout the duration of their visit to the Memorial and its commemorative premises.
  2. Visitors are obliged to follow the instructions of the Memorial staff, the Museum personnel, and members of the Police of the Czech Republic or emergency services. Failure to comply with the instructions or orders issued in the interest of visitor safety or the protection of exhibits and collections may result in removal from the premises or referral to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
  3. It is strictly forbidden to damage or interfere with any buildings, items, collections, vegetation, or other property within the buildings or on the Memorial premises. Visitors must also refrain from disturbing others. In particular, the following activities are prohibited: 
          1. Interrupting or interfering with guided tours or obstructing the view of other visitors,
          2. Camping, picnicking, and making campfires in the commemorative area,
          3. Using bicycles or other means of transport, except for wheelchairs,
          4. Leaving bicycles in places that are not designated for that purpose,
          5. Using electric or motorized aircraft models or drones anywhere on the premises of the Memorial; exceptions may be granted upon written request and with approval from Memorial management,
          6. Entering the buildings with dogs (except service dogs) and other animals without permission of the Memorial staff
          7. Disposing of waste outside designated bins,
          8. Consuming food and beverages in the exhibition area and at the commemorative area,
          9. Displaying or distributing promotional materials within the Memorial Premises without the consent of Memorial staff.

Article VIII.

Fire Protection and Visitor Safety

  1.  Smoking and the handling of open fires is strictly prohibited inside the buildings and in the commemorative area. In case of fire, visitors are obliged to follow the instructions of the Memorial staff and security forces during the tour.
  2. In the event of an accident on the premises, the injured person should contact a Memorial employee or the Museum management administrating the Memorial.

 

Article IX.

Final provisions

  1. The Museum shall not be held liable for injuries and damages resulting from violations of the Visitor Regulations hereunder. 
  2. Any visitor who causes damage to the Museum’s property through their own fault is obliged to compensate for such damage in accordance with applicable legal regulations.
  3. Visitors may express their suggestions, comments, or complaints using a questionnaire available at the Memorial reception, on the Museum’s website (www.rommuz.cz), or by contacting the management of the Memorial by mail or by phone.
  4. For operational or other justified reasons, the Museum management may temporarily modify specific provisions of these Visitor Regulations. The public will be informed of such modifications in a timely manner by an announcement on the Museum's website and by a sign at the Memorial entrance.
