Lucie Sekerková’s photo exhibition entitled Women Who Sell Hope

We cordially invite you to the opening of Lucie Sekerková’s photo exhibition entitled Women Who Sell Hope, which will take place on March 14, 2019 at 5 pm at the Museum of Romany Culture.

The exhibition and the book of the same name summarize the work of two Slovak authors. It brings a photographic project and an essay on the life and work of several hundred generations from the Olga Romani groups in Bucharest (Romania) and nearby. Photographer Lucia Sekerková The blonde and ethnologist Ivan Šusterová penetrated the world of this relatively closed group of women and returned to them for four years. They photographed, wrote, filmed interviews. They watched how these women lived, their position in the family and in Romanian society, thus creating a picture of some contemporary forms of divination and magic. They captured the modernization of this phenomenon, where the ancient blends with modern, irrational with practical, magical rituals and great marketing. The project is a contribution to contemporary documentary photography. The photographer selected and edited the photographer Tomáš Pospěch.
